Statute of Lloyd George in Caernarfon
|
Youngsters from a housing estate in Caernarfon are to appear in an opera together with old footage of David Lloyd George. With music by young composer Owain Llwyd and words by Meirion McIntyre Huws, Trwbl yn y Gwynt (Trouble in the Wind) is described as being based on "the ups and downs of Caernarfon life".
This will be a multi-media production using black and white footage of Lloyd George and film from the First World War. It will feature a rare opportunity to hear the voice of the former Prime Minister speaking at the National Eisteddfod during wartime and asking: "Why should we not sing?"
The one-act opera, a fusion of classical music and rap, will be staged at Noddfa Community Centre on Saturday, March 29.
